ABOUT MAGRIKIE

Magrikie was born and raised in South Africa. Her name "Magrikie" is the Dutch / Afrikaans translation for a "daisy" and flowers happen to be one of her favorite subjects to paint. In 2000 Magrikie left her beloved homeland to pursue her creative calling and to attend Otis College of Art and Design in California. This led to ambitious career opportunities with award-winning Creative Agencies and Film Studios where her work was nominated for the prestigious Key Art Awards. After many years as Art Director and Retoucher in the Advertising Industry, she started pouring her creative energy back into her passion for decorating surfaces & her Art Licensing career took off. Today she creates art for an array of products, including greeting cards, paper goods, home goods, packaging, giftware, textiles, wall décor, tableware, books and more. Her illustrations were used on the first ever "Scratch-&-Sniff Stamps" for the United States Postal Service and her Food Packaging illustrations were awarded Silver at the Global Pentawards. Magrikie uses traditional media like watercolors and gouache, in combination with digital tools and she can switch between a loose painterly style or a more stylised approach. When she's not working you can find her gardening, making pottery or exploring forests, mountains and coastlines. Living a creative life is one of her greatest joys. Magrikie appreciates the intricacies of creative solutions and she loves to create & collaborate with a wide variety of Licensees, Brands, Publishers & Creative Agencies, some of which include:
